Websites

The following are websites I've developed.

Network of Gamers

Network of Gamers
is a LAN (computer gaming) party I run on a monthly basis. The site allows users to sign up for the event, share their thoughts in the forums (powered by phpbb), and keep track of news in the gaming world. I also have links to other LAN events in the midwest, and a listing of sponsors who support the event. There is an image gallery of past events as well.

Draconigena

Draconigena
, Latin for "dragon born," is a fan site for the collectible card game A Game of Thrones, produced by Fantasy Flight Games. The game is based off of a series of novels, collectively called A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin.

The site features a very comprehensive method to search for cards from the many sets FFG have released. All attributes of the cards, like character strength or cost, can be filtered against and the result set limited. The card data is stored on a MySQL database and has many AJAX features, like login and methods to change how results are displayed. It also allows you to store custom decks and your card collection online. You can search other people's collections to see if they have trades you need, and see what others have in their decks.

LAN Party Map

LAN Party Map
was project started out of a desire to quickly and easily see what LAN parties were going on around me. Other sites, such as LANParty.com use a cumbersome list. While you can see what's going on in your region of the world or US, it was really difficult to get a sense on what was close by.

LPM, on the other hand, interfaces with Google Maps and places markers for each LAN. It is currently limited to the US and Canada, but work may be done in the future to expand it to other countries as well. When a LAN is is added, it currently goes to Yahoo! maps to get the latitude and longitude, as at the time it was written Google did not have its own GeoCoding service. However, these coordinates are stored on the database to speed things up in the future.

LPM was sold and is now under the control of Xoxide.com, a retailer specializing in performance parts and other specialty items for computers.
